Some hosts give their event a camera of its own, the way a table of disposable cameras works at a wedding. On those events the event page's Add opens the album's camera instead of your camera roll, so everything you add is shot right there, in the moment.
Your roll
Every guest gets a roll of shots, and the host decides how many. The number beside the shutter counts what's left, and the reel under the picture fills as you go: each shot freezes the frame you were on and the reel moves on to the next one, with the minute you took it. Tap the reel any time to open Your shots.
When the roll is used up, the camera says That’s your roll and when your shots come back, with See your shots one tap away.
Photos and videos
Tap the shutter for a photo. On an event that takes videos, hold it to film instead: the shutter turns red, a ring fills around it, and the camera stops on its own at the limit. Let go to stop sooner. A video counts as one shot, the same as a photo.
The first time you film, your phone asks to use the microphone. Say no and you can still film, just without sound.
When everyone sees them
The line under the event's name in the camera says which way this event works:
- It develops later. Your shots stay out of the album until the develop time, then everyone's appear together. Until then only you can see yours, in Your shots.
- The host approves each one. Your shots wait for them, like any upload on that event.
- Every shot goes straight in. Each one joins the album as soon as it has sent.
Changed your mind?
In Your shots, a shot that isn't in the album yet has a remove button. Removing a shot frees its frame, so you can take another one. A roll allows only so many retakes, and the camera tells you when they're used up.
A shot that's already in the album is removed from the album itself, from the photo viewer, like anything else you've added. See what guests can and can't see.
If the camera won't open
Your browser asks to use the camera the first time. If the answer was no, the camera says The camera is off for this site: allow the camera in your browser's settings, then tap Try again. Or tap Use your phone’s camera to take each shot with your phone's own camera app; it still counts on your roll.
The camera turns off whenever you leave the page or lock your phone, and turns back on when you come back.
Shots keep sending while you shoot
Each shot goes up in the background, one at a time, while you keep shooting. If your signal drops, the camera says how many didn't send and offers Retry, and anything still unsent is listed when you close the camera. For how uploads work everywhere else, see join an event and add your photos.
