An Event Pass is a year of room for one event. The clock starts when you buy it, not when the event happens, and everything about extending it is designed so the album never disappears out from under you.
The year
Buying a pass gives your account one more event slot and 75 GB of storage for about a year from the purchase. The dashboard's storage meter shows the expiry date. Two weeks before, you'll get an email (Your Partyreel Event Pass expires soon) and a note in the bell.

Renew Event Pass adds another year for $15. Renewing extends; it never resets. The new year starts where the current one ends, so renewing early loses nothing. Renewal is for a pass that's still active; once a pass has lapsed, the way back is a new pass from the pricing page.
Stack passes
Hosting a second big event? Buy another pass. Each one adds its own slot and its own 75 GB for its own year, and they run side by side on one account. A renewal always extends the pass that would expire soonest.
Move to Pro
Switching to Pro while a pass is live converts it, prorated to the day: the unused fraction of what you actually paid becomes credit on your account that pays down your upcoming Pro invoices. Nothing is banked and nothing is lost. The first Pro payment is charged in full; the credit applies from the next invoice on (a year out on a yearly plan, which is why monthly is the smoother switch mid-pass).
When it ends
If a pass lapses without a renewal, the account settles back to the free plan. Nothing is deleted. If you're over the free plan's 2 GB, you get 45 days to make room, renew, or upgrade before Partyreel starts trimming, largest files first, into Deleted. Buy it close to the date
Because the year starts at purchase, buy the pass when you're ready to create the event rather than months ahead. A pass bought the week before covers the event, the trickle of late uploads, and a full year of sharing.
