The reel plays on; a clip is the piece of it you keep. It's a short video you make from the album on your own phone or laptop, saved or shared as a file. Anyone who can open the whole album can make one, the host included, on every plan.
Start one
Open the reel from the Highlight reel tile at the top of the album, then tap Make your own, the violet button under the reel's controls. The line under the tile's heading, Make your own clip to share, opens it directly.
Your clip starts out already made: the reel's own picks, fitted to the length, in the look you were watching. Everything from here is optional.
Shape it
Two tabs hold the choices, one open at a time:
- Looks shows every look drawn on your own clip. Tap one and the clip changes while it plays.
- Moments is the album. The numbered photos are in your clip, in order; tap one to take it out, or any other to add it. The chips swap the whole set: The reel's picks, Only mine, or Everything.
The order strip is the running order (under the clip at a laptop, inside Moments on a phone): Hold a moment to move it. The clip keeps playing. The tray at the foot holds Length (Auto fits the clip to your moments, up to your event's longest: 60 seconds on a free event, 60 on a paid one), Layout (portrait for phones and Stories, landscape for a TV), and Opening, the moment that starts it. More on each in looks, length, and layout.
Guests never see a hidden photo here. The host sees hers marked Hidden · Show; Show puts it back in the album for everyone and into the clip.
Make it
Tap Make it and your device draws the clip frame by frame, counting down the moments left: Drawing your clip on this device. Keep this tab open. It pauses while the tab is in the background and picks up when you come back. Cancel stops it and keeps your picks.
Keep it
When it's done, Your clip is ready, and you stay on it:
- Share opens your device's share sheet: Messages, Instagram, anywhere.
- Save keeps the file. On an iPhone it opens your phone's own share sheet, Photos and Files alike, in one tap; elsewhere it downloads.
- Add to event, on a paid event, puts a copy in the album. See add a clip to the event.
Share, save, and add in any order; each one says when it's done. Nothing about your clip is kept for you, so save it if you want it later. Make another starts a fresh one from the reel's next picks, in the same look, length, and layout.
The fine print
Clips are silent, so add a song in the app you post from. A free event's clips carry a small partyreel.com mark in the corner, and one quiet line under the clip says so (Free events mark their clips.); paid events' clips don't. Something not working? See a clip won't finish or save.
