Who can see your event and media

Updated May 31, 2026

Your event is as private or as open as you want it to be. By default, the only way in is the link you share — and we work to keep that link out of search results.

Your album opens to whoever has the share link. We deliberately keep those links out of search engines, so an album isn't something a stranger can stumble onto by searching. Share the link with your guests and it stays among them.

Public to your guests, not to the web

"Public" in Partyreel means visible to people with your link — the guests at your event. It does not mean listed on the open internet.

You control the switches

As the host, you decide:

  • Whether the album is visible at all, and when to open it.
  • Whether you're still accepting uploads, so you can close submissions when the event's over.
  • What's in it — through review and removal.

Asking guests for an email

You can optionally ask guests for an email when they join. It's off by default — guests only need a display name unless you turn it on. For how long everything sticks around, see how long your media is kept.
