Two ways to get a photo off the album, with one difference between them: hide keeps it where it is, remove starts the clock.
Hide
Hide on a tile (or in the photo viewer on a phone) takes the photo off the album for guests instantly, with the toast Hidden from everyone. For you it stays in the gallery at 30 percent opacity with a persistent Show chip, so it's easy to find and one tap to put back. Hidden photos still count toward your storage and still appear in your downloads if you ask for them. They can't be added to the reel; a photo already in the reel keeps its place in the Studio's list but is skipped in the reel until you Show it again.
Hide is for the blurry duplicate, the one shot someone would rather not see, and anything you're not sure about yet.
Remove
Remove in the photo viewer, or Delete in Select mode, asks you to confirm: the photo disappears from the album right away and is permanently deleted after a short grace period. Its space comes back to your plan immediately.
Deleted, and restoring
- Dashboard
- Your event
- Settings
- Deleted
Removed photos sit in the event's Deleted card for 30 days, each with a countdown. Restore puts one back exactly as it was: a photo that was hidden comes back hidden, one that was waiting for review comes back waiting. Delete permanently skips the wait, after a confirmation that it can't be undone. Nothing in Deleted can be downloaded, so grab a copy before you remove something you might want.
Restoring needs room: if your storage is full, Restore refuses and offers an upgrade instead.
Deleted events work the same way, on the dashboard's Deleted chip, with the whole album restored in one go. See your dashboard, explained; deleting an event is in event settings, explained.
Two things in Deleted that won't restore
- A guest's own deletion. When a signed-in guest deletes their own upload from their dashboard, it waits out its window in Deleted but Restore refuses it. Their choice wins.
- Anything removed by Partyreel after a report. Restore answers that the item is no longer available.
Deleted has a budget
Deleted items are held free of charge, up to roughly your plan's storage size. Past that, the oldest items clear early rather than waiting the full 30 days. The storage meter on your dashboard shows what's in Deleted at any time.
Undo is the whole point
Hide first when in doubt. Remove when you're sure. Delete permanently only when you need the space today.
