Review uploads before they appear

Review is the choice between "the album fills live" and "nothing appears until I've seen it". Both are right for different events, and you can change it at any point.

Turn it on

You can choose it as you create the event, on Pick your album's style, and change it at any point in Settings.

Under Album style, pick Review; it saves the moment you do. Or tap "straight into the album" in the What guests can add row's sentence and pick "To you first", or open Review from your event page, where Turn on review does it in one tap.

From then on, a guest's upload goes into Review instead of the gallery. The guest sees a note that uploads develop as you let each one in, the album shows everything waiting as a sheet of dark squares with theirs lit, and their own uploads list says Developing until you decide. Your own uploads never wait; the host is the reviewer.

Approving and rejecting

While anything is waiting, the Review card on your event page shows how many, and the bell on your dashboard says it too. Inside, every upload sits in a box of the same size, so a long queue is quick to scan. Three ways through it:

• Approve all: the fast path. Most review is a quick scroll, then this.
• Open one: tap an upload to see it large, with Reject and Approve under it. Decide, and the next one opens.
• Select: tap the ones you mean, then Approve or Reject the selection. All and Clear speed it up.

Every approve or reject names itself on a toast with Undo for a few seconds, and Undo puts those uploads back in the queue exactly where they were.

Approved photos appear for guests within seconds. When the queue empties you get a small "all caught up" note. Anything you reject lands in your album hidden: dimmed for you, where Show approves it after all, and never shown to guests. The guest who sent it sees Not approved beside it in their own uploads; nobody else sees any sign of it. See hide, remove, and restore.

Not sure about one? Review says it above the queue: Anything you approve can still be hidden later. Hiding takes a photo off every guest's album at once, so approving and hiding later is always open to you.

On a keyboard

At a computer the queue takes the keys you'd expect. The arrow keys move between uploads, Enter approves the one you're on and Backspace rejects it, moving you on to the next. Space opens it large, where the same keys decide it and the arrows step through the queue; Esc closes it.

New uploads while you're reviewing

An upload that arrives while you're working through Review never slips into the queue under you. A line above the queue says how many are new, and tapping it adds them to the top. That way nothing moves while you have a selection going, and the queue never says you're caught up while new ones wait.

Turning it off

Pick Live under Album style. If uploads are waiting, Partyreel asks first, in a line under the choice that says how many are approved and shown to everyone: Approve and show them goes ahead, Keep it as it is backs out. Picking Disposable instead approves them too: they join the roll and develop with everyone's at the develop time (Add them to the roll), and their guests can still take them back before then. Leaving review always releases the queue; there's no way to leave it and keep photos waiting.

Review and a develop time never stand together, since a queue left unapproved would leave guests with nothing at the develop. On an album that develops, your check is its cover: before the develop, look under it on your event page to take anything out, and move the develop time if you need longer.

It's never retroactive

Turning review on doesn't pull already-approved photos back into the queue; they stay live. Leaving it doesn't hide anything. The choice only decides what happens to the next upload.

When to use it

• On: weddings, anything on a screen in the room, corporate events, albums a client or a family elder will see, and any event where you'd rather look first.
• Off: parties, trips, reunions, and anywhere the live fill is the fun. You can still hide or remove afterward.
