Your data and deleting your account

Updated September 1, 2026 · 2 min read

In short

Partyreel keeps your account, your events, and your uploads, nothing for advertising. Take everything with you as originals any time. To delete your account, send us a note from its email.

Your photos come back out as the originals, deletion is real, and your account is yours to close. Here's what Partyreel keeps and how to take it with you.

What Partyreel keeps

  • Your account: the email you verified, your display name, your profile photo and handle if you set them, who you follow and block (private to you), and your plan.
  • Your events: the albums you host, their settings, and their media.
  • Your uploads: the photos and videos you added to any event, attributed to your name, or to Anonymous if you added them signed out.
  • A record per upload of when and from where it arrived (the network address and device details of the upload itself), kept only as long as the upload exists and used only to handle abuse. Location metadata inside photos is stripped before upload; see photo metadata and location data.

There's no advertising profile and nothing is sold. The formal version is the privacy policy.

Who owns the photos

You do, whatever you upload; the terms grant Partyreel only what's needed to store and show them for the event. A host owns their album's arrangement and controls what's shown, and can remove any upload; the person who took a photo keeps their rights to it.

Take everything with you

Every download is the original file. From any event you host, Download album gives you the full set as a zip; from your dashboard's Uploads, you can save anything you've added anywhere. See download your photos, videos, and albums.

An event can't be transferred to another account. If a different person needs to own an album, download it and re-upload it from their account.

Deleting photos and events

Hosts remove photos and delete events from the event's settings; both wait in Deleted for 30 days and then are permanently gone. Signed-in guests can delete their own uploads from their dashboard. See hide, remove, and restore.

Deleting your account

For now, account deletion is handled through support: send us a note from the email on your account asking for it, and we'll delete the account for you and confirm when it's done. Every note gets a reply, usually within a day.

Before you ask:

  • Events you host are deleted with the account, media included. Download anything you want to keep first.
  • Photos you added to someone else's event stay in that host's album under their control; ask the host if you'd like them removed.
  • Deletion is permanent. A deleted account can't be restored.
