How Partyreel works

Updated September 1, 2026 · 3 min read

In short

You create an event and get a QR code. Guests scan it and add photos and videos from their phone browser, no app or account. It all lands in one live album you curate, share, and cut into a reel.

Every event has a roomful of phones taking better photos than any one person could. Partyreel gathers them. You make an event, guests scan a code, and the album fills itself in while the night is still going.

The loop

  1. 01

Create an event, get a QR code

Sign in, name your event, pick a QR style, and you're done. It takes about a minute, and the free plan covers one event with 2 GB of space. The event gets one permanent link, and the QR code is that link in scannable form. See create your first event.

  2. 02

    Guests scan and upload

A guest points their phone camera at the code, the event opens in their browser, and they tap Add photos. Nothing to install, nothing to sign up for beyond a quick email check if you ask for one. Photos upload at full quality, straight from the camera roll. See how guests join and upload.

  3. 03

Everything lands in one live album

Uploads appear in the gallery within seconds, for you and for every guest looking at it. You can watch it fill up on your own phone, or put it on a screen in the room.

  4. 04

    You curate

Hide anything that shouldn't be there, remove anything that really shouldn't, or turn on Review so nothing shows until you've approved it. Everything is reversible for 30 days. See curate what shows up in your album.

  5. 05

Share it, download it, cut the reel

The same link that collected the photos is the album you share afterward. Anyone who can open the album can download originals, one at a time or the whole set as a zip. And Partyreel turns the best moments into a short highlight reel, free on every plan. See the highlight reel.

What it costs

The free plan is a real plan: one event, 2 GB of storage, photos only, a 30-second reel with a small Partyreel mark. When you need more, Pro is a subscription with unlimited events and video, and the Event Pass is a one-time payment for a single big event. The full picture is in what the free plan includes and Pro vs. Event Pass.

Where things live

  • Your dashboard lists your events (and any you've saved as a guest), events from hosts you follow, your uploads, your likes, and Deleted, where removed items wait. See your dashboard, explained.
  • Each event page is the album with your controls around it: share, add photos, review, and the reel. See your event page, explained.
  • The event link is the only door. It isn't listed anywhere and search engines are asked to stay out, so the album stays among the people you gave it to. See who can see your event.

Start small

Make a test event tonight, scan the code with your own phone, open the link in a private browser window so you see the guest side, and add three photos. Ten minutes with the real thing beats any tour, and the free plan is built for exactly this.
